When should we start college admissions consulting?
Ideally the spring of sophomore year or the fall of junior year. That gives us time to shape course selection, build a testing plan, and develop essays without rushing. That said, we regularly take on seniors mid-application and still add real value, particularly on school list balance and essay quality.
Do you write the essays for my student?
No, and you should be cautious of anyone who offers to. Admissions officers read thousands of essays and can spot an adult voice immediately. We coach brainstorming, structure, and revision so the final piece is unmistakably your student, only sharper.
How many schools should my student apply to?
Most of our students apply to between eight and twelve, split across reach, target, and likely schools. The number matters far less than the balance. A list of fifteen reaches is riskier than a thoughtful list of eight.
Can you help if my student has a lower GPA or test score?
Yes. A large part of admissions strategy is finding institutions where your student’s profile is genuinely competitive, and highlighting strengths that a transcript alone does not show. Many strong outcomes come from students who were never the top of their class.
Do you work with test-optional applications?
We do. Test-optional does not mean test-blind, and the right choice differs by school and by student. We help you decide where submitting scores helps and where withholding them is the stronger play.
